Mark Green

Newfoundlander Mark Green, now living in Halifax, is a rough-edged blues performer (vocals-guitar) who honed his skills in the downtown clubs of St. John's during the 1990s with a band consisting of Paul Green (bass), Keith Coles (guitar, harmonica), Steve Hussey (guitar), Bob Hiscock (drums) and Chris Roberts (drums). His superb debut CD (1995), Preachin' Blues (see below), quite simply rocked the joint! Although influenced by the "godfathers" of the Newfoundland and Labrador blues scene (Denis Parker, Peter Narváez, Scott Goudie, and Roger Howse), as well as by the late great Gary B.B. Coleman, with whom he played and toured for several months, Mark has evolved a style of playing and singing that is uniquely his own.

May 7, 8 2004 are dates to note! Mark, who has been making Atlantic audiences sit up and take notice with his hard hittin' rockin' blues, will release his much awaited new CD "6 STRINGS, 9 LIVES." The release party will take place at Bearly's House of Blues on Barrington Street on Friday, May 7 at 8 p.m. The rockin' will continue when MARK opens for Big Bill Morganfield at the Marquee Club on Gottingen Street on Saturday, May 8.

Mark, who was co-organizer for last year's Rick Jeffery Jam and this year's inaugural Dutch Mason Blues Hall of Fame Awards Show, has been featured on the MuchEast program on MuchMusic. The talented musicians who performed on the CD are Garrett Mason (guitar), Noel Taussig (bass), Brad Conrad (guitar, pedal steel and percussion), Gary Potts (drums), Donny Muir (organ), Ainslie Jardine "AJ" (drums), Carter Chaplin (guitar), Keith Mullens (percussion) and Tim Baker (percussion).
